A focal point for the new technologies at the show has been the hard to avoid green trend, which has been combined into a number of ready-to-use technologically advanced formulations, customized for the Asian market.
In line with continued growth for skin whitening products, LS demonstrated its next generation Actiwhite formulation, which it claims is based on a biological pathway backed by clinical tests.
“LS provides tailor-made solutions for active ingredients that are consistent with local needs, such as the demand for skin whitening products in Asia,” said Anne-Laurie Rodriguez, LS communications manager.
Sensitive skin
The companies also presented Skinasensyl, a new cosmeceutical active designed to target people with neurosensitive skin. It relies on a synthetic tetrapeptide to reduce nerve stimulation, which increases skin tolerance and reduces the effects of known irritants.
LS says that the efficacy of Skinasensyl has been proven through clinical studies that show an increase in the tolerance threshold of the skin, reducing pain and discomfort associated with such conditions.
The companies also showcased its Plantapon LGC Sorb, a next generation APG surfactant designed to provide foaming and sensorial attributes for a range of personal care products.
Likewise, Cognis unveiled its Cetiol SenSoft, an emollient that has been designed around both sensorial and holistic properties, providing hydrolytic stability, good UV filter solubilizing power, as well as the ability to be formulated with powders.
Focus on all things green
To complement these individual ingredients tailored to the specific needs of the Asian market, the company also highlighted how its green and sustainable ambitions fit in with the new formulations.
Building on the company’s Green Chemical Solutions classification system, which was unveiled to the public in September last year, the show provided a platform to demonstrate how this system works with the new ingredients.
On the show booth, there were various models to illustrate how this solution can show to what degree an ingredient system really is green, through what is termed the Green Formulation Grid.
This is carried out through a concept called Beau Bio Generation, developed by LS to represent green approaches to formulating environmentally sound principles for both skin and hair care products.
“By applying Cognis ‘green’ philosophy to active ingredients in this way, we help our customers in their markets,” Rodriguez said.
