The Unica line, which was unveiled this week at Achema 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany, combines a Farcon 220 deep forming unit with a MA100 carton packaging processor, each of which is controlled through a separate PC and fully automated robotic feed system.
Company spokesperson Manuela Goldoni told CosmeticsDesign.com that the line has many different potential applications in cosmetics from lipstick to perfume.
New robotic feeding system
Goldoni underlined the importance of the new robotic feeding system that links the Farcon 220 thermoformer to the MA 100 cartoner.
The spokesperson said the “robots were developed by Marchesini Group to pick-up products and to feed them to both the thermoformer and the cartoner.”
Marchesini emphasises flexibility of line
She said the new robotic system is highly flexible in terms of feeding objects, either single or multiple, and size changing can also be completed quickly and easily.
“Special attention has been paid to size changing, which is performed without using tools, thanks to quick-release couplings and locking handles,” added Goldoni.
Flexibility is also emphasized in relation to Unica’s lay-out. “The large work area and operational precision are the strongholds of this new product: A cutting edge system that offers outstanding flexibility.”
Alongside added flexibility and easier size changing, Goldoni said Unica also makes cleaning easier and faster thanks to its accessible and worker friendly design.
The line also brings together the Farcon 220 thermoformer and the MA 100 cartoner in one robotic monobloc machine. Marchesini said both the component machines are already known on the international market and now joined by two four-axe robots called Robovisions that constitute the feeding system.
So far Goldoni said Marchesini has received strong expressions of interest in the Unica line from manufacturers in China, Belgium and France.
