Lachemi launches natural preservatives from ancient holistic origins
Ayurveda is a system of health care developed in India over 5000 years ago and is said to promote positive health, natural beauty and long life.
The challenge to formulate natural preservatives
The new range entitled La’Ayur, contains natural ingredients which have been blended to give a ‘synergistic preservation system’. These preservatives are said to be effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as moulds and funghi.
The company has launched an extensive range of preservative ingredients in the past, some of which are paraben-free. This new range is the first ‘100 per cent natural’ range from the company and is reflective of the growing demand for natural products.
For many formulators, the search for natural based preservatives has posed quite a challenge. Earlier in the year, another Indian company called Salicylates and Chemicals launched a preservative based on curry leaf and cinnamon leaf oils.
Broad spectrum of natural ingredients
Drawing on its knowledge of Ayurveda, Lachemi has sourced a wide range of essential oils, herbal extracts and fruit and seed extracts to formulate its products.
La’Ayur CG is a preservative based on extracts of fruits and herbs. It is described as anti-carcinogenic, fungicidal and can also be used in the treatment of acne, scars, injuries, stretch marks, wrinkles and hair loss as well as perfumery and aromatherapy.
La’Ayur- CP is based on natural essential oils and is said to have antimicrobial properties including antiseptic, antifungal and antibiotic. Among others in the range, L’Ayur- ET is said deemed suitable for use in sunscreens, hair care, skin care and in anti-ageing products.
The company has said that it owes the discovery of these natural preservative ingredients to the holisitic healthcare treatment Ayurveda, which it claims has been tried and tested by generations in medicinal and food ingredients.
