Tri-K will distribute Mediterranean natural ingredients in the US

Tri-K industries, a supplier of specialty ingredients to the global personal care and cosmetics industry, has been named the exclusive US distributor of Phenbiox ingredients.

Italy-based Phenbiox delivers natural ingredients to the cosmetics industry by using a unique, patented extraction method that makes it possible to liquefy plant tissues by performing specific “molecular cuts” with biotechnological tools.

Allowing for the capture of the complete range of protective molecules from the plant skin, the company claims that this method of extraction is far more targeted and precise than standard methods of solvent extraction.

The Phenbiox range, which is also available in eight European countries, comprises 5 water-based ingredients derived from typical Mediterranean biomasses such as olives, wheat bran and grapes. The ingredients offer anti-oxidant and protective benefits to both skin and hair.

ProStructure, derived from walnuts, is a powerful antioxidant with phenolic activity. It can be used in both skin and hair care products, acting as a firming agent in skin formulations, and offering protection for color-treated hair from UV rays.

Also a powerful antioxidant due to its high content of hydroxytyrosol, a biophenol with proven anti-inflammatory action, Oleox is drawn from organic green olives. The company claims that polyphenol levels of this product are up to 50 times that found in extra virgin olive oil

The third ingredient in the range, Cruox, is obtained from wheat bran and designed for use as the active principle in formulations dedicated to preventing aging and photo-aging, as well as being suitable for use in sunscreens and after sun lotions.

The company claims that its fourth ingredient Hydropom is the first aqueous product specifically created for the cosmetics sector that contains lycopene, a molecule from the carotenoids family. Derived from tomato skins, Hydropom is targeted for use in pre-summer or pre-sun cosmetic products, and more generally for protective preparations.

Derived from grape skins, Uviox is the fifth ingredient in the range, and helps fight against dermal aging and photo-aging. According to Phenbiox, it is ideal for use in anti-wrinkle and anti-radical products, as well as in sun products to protect against UVB induced damage.

Launching in the North American market is considered a strategic decision, said Dario Zanichelli on behalf of Phenbiox, who added that the company was looking to establish partnerships with distributors in other European countries and Asia.

Tri-K will present Phenbiox’s products at the California Supplier’s Day exhibition on October 22nd and 23rd.
