Cosmogen strengthens Chinese operations with new office

France-based Cosmogen, a supplier of cosmetics packaging and applicators, is strengthening relations with its industrial partners by opening a new office in Shenzhen, China.

The office will be headed up by Richard Orliange, Cosmogen’s deputy director general, and is expected to open on 1 March.

“The main purpose of this office is to provide an intermediary with our technical and quality assurance teams in Paris, in order to ensure a higher degree of proximity with our industrial partners,” Orliange told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com

Optimize time-to-market

He explained that the goal is to optimise the lead time to market for new products, as well continuing the company’s process of improving the quality assurance and quality control systems within its factories.

The opening could also allow for the research of specific know-how to support Cosmogen’s innovations, the company said in a statement.

Cosmogen has been selling its products for 25 years in the Asia-Pacific region, said Orliange, adding that it works with Korean, Chinese and Taiwanese companies.

International presence

The opening of a new office in China is the latest stage in the company’s attempt to strengthen its operations internationally.

In May 2009, Cosmogen reinforced its US presence by opening a commercial subsidiary in New York designed to help American clients with their new products developments and to promote international launches.

According to Orliange, the US is a strong market for the company, representing 30 per cent of the company’s total sales. France remains the strongest market for Cosmogen, contributing to 40 percent of sales, with the remainder coming from exports.

The company supplies packaging and applicators to both mass market and prestige cosmetics brands, and clients include Dior, L’Oreal, Coty and Avon.
