The Somerset-headquartered company is the winner of the International Trade category at the Westcountry Business Challenge Awards, and Swallowfield’s chief executive Ian Mackinnon says the award recognises its development in China, the Czech Republic, France and the US, as well as new emerging markets such as Dubai, India and South Africa.
One of the judges of the awards Martin Wright, from KPMG, said the jury was impressed by the company’s international strategy.
“…they are now selling more overseas than ever before, but are still doing so from their base in the South West. For the first time they are selling products in China, which have been made in Somerset,” he said.
