New hinge-free compact introduced by Jackel

Packaging firm Jackel has taken strides towards achieving its ambition of being a luxury packager to the personal care market with its latest concept, a 360 degree, hinge-free make up case.

The ‘Reverso’, which was on display at Luxe Pack Monaco this year, is a compact consisting of two parts that are linked thanks to several intertwined strips of paper, material or fake leather that replaces the hinges.

The hinge-free compact design has been developed stringently by Jackel’s engineering department and was inspired from a glasses case, a spokesperson told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.

The compact offers a double surface for which the company claims makes it easily customisable and it can be maintained in an open, stable position thanks to the magnetic system.

It is composed of a mirror, four pans and one cavity for applicators.

“For this specific pack, we added magnetic brushes for the application that won’t fall out during the 360 degree case rotation,” the spokesperson said.

The compact has been filled with the company’s ‘One Touch Collection’, which is its new make-up formula for lips, cheeks and eyelids, all in one.

Acquired by the Li & Fung Group earlier this year, Jackel said the new collection’s rich but greaseless texture allows a finger application on the three areas of the face for a light and satin result.

The trading firm bought Jackel back in May and said the acquisition will complement its existing health, beauty and cosmetics business, with a view of growing this new segment for the firm, particularly with its strong presence in Hong Kong.

Jean-Stanislas Orlowski, founder of Jackel France, was positive after the deal was struck, seeing it as a great chance for Jackel to take advantage of Li & Fung’s resources.

“We are facing new and exciting challenges and we are looking to the future by focusing on innovation, industrial expertise, global logistics and sustainability to name but a few key areas of focus,” he said.
