The event will play host to more than 50 new exhibitors from countries including China, Korea and Switzerland, as well as welcoming back companies such as Croda, DSM and Merck.
Tying in with the Barcelona setting, the theme chosen for the in-focus feature in 2012 is ‘Solar Beauty’.
“A Beach will form the centrepiece of the programme and will house a full-scale innovation platform, combining different interactive and entertaining areas, designed to help industry players evaluate the latest developments and anticipate future trends,” Cathy Laporte, group marketing manager for in-cosmetics, told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.
The theme will be echoed throughout the event with a solar trail pointing to exhibitors with Solar Beauty innovations and formulations, while the in-focus educational programme will feature a scientific seminar on sun protection.
Return of the Innovation Zone
Making a return to in-cosmetics for the Barcelona edition is the popular innovation zone, which will feature beauty product innovations hand-picked by Mintel and showcase over 50 new product launches.
Exhibitors taking part in the Innovation Zone can compete for the honour of Best Ingredient Award 2012, with the winner annouced during a presentation on 17 April.
Over 40 innovation seminars are taking place over the course of the event, with various suppliers including BASF Beauty Care Solutions, Dow Personal Care and Lubrizol presenting their latest ingredients and formulation techniques.
Marketing trends presentations on men’s grooming and social media
In addition to shining the spotlight on Solar Beauty, comprehensive marketing trends presentations will explore various topics including social media, nutricosmetics and men’s grooming.
Will King, founder and CEO of the King of Shaves brand, will deliver a presentation entitled ‘Men’s Toiletries - the slumbering giant - how to awaken it?’, while Wendy Lewis from the Wendy Lewis & Co global aesthetics consultancy will present “From Facebook to face creams - exploring social media channels and their impact on beauty brands.’
‘Solar logic: Innovation and Insight in Sun Protection’ from Mintel’s global skincare analyst Nica Lewis will discuss the hottest trends and issues in sun care as well as challenges and opportunities for manufacturers.
A formulation workshop led by Organic Monitor’s technical research manager Judi Beerling will take place on 19 April. Entitled ‘Green formulations: overcoming the technical hurdles”, it will look at technical and formulation issues for manufacturers of green products and offer solutions and advice.
