As bioplastics become increasing popular for the packaging of cosmetics and other consumer goods, the forthcoming European Bioplastics Conference will focus on how it is emerging in the mass market.

The seventh annual conference will be held in Berlin, November 6 - 7, and will feature a comprehensive presentation programme tracking the trends behind the materials, its applications and the very latest technologies that are being harnessed.

Particular areas of focus for the conference programme will include the certification of biomass cultivation and new materials and products, together with current waste disposal and recycling solutions.

Focus on science and technology

A highlight of the presentation programme will be an inaugural speech by Alfredo Aguilar Romanillos, European Commission Directorate Biotechnologies, Agriculture and Food, who will highlight the progress made in bioplastics, as well as highlighting some of the future trends.

The presentation programme will also have a significant focus on science and technology, reflecting the fact that the progress and growth of the category has very much depended on science-based innovations.

Developing this angle will be Professor Hans-Josef Endres of the Institute for Bioplastics and Biocomposites of the University of Hannover, who will be giving a presentation that will be focused on the recycling of bioplastics.

The programme also includes the Annual Bioplastics Awards, for which applicants who have developed an innovative solution or product in the field can submit by clicking here.
