The Indian market has continued to grow at breakneck rates despite the global downturn, and recent data released by market researcher RNCOS suggest that the Indian cosmetics market is likely to continue on this path with market value growth of 17 percent predicted for the period 2011 – 2015.
However, alongside this market growth, many cosmetics business are racing to ensure that their resources can keep up with this growth. With respect to staff training, some manufacturers and suppliers are contending with information gaps and a lack of awareness of market trends.
Program designed to bring cosmetics scientists up to speed
The Cosmetics and Science Conference will be held in Mumbai from March 21 – 22 and the program has been designed to bring cosmetic professionals up to speed with what is going on in the industry.
The event, which will take place at The Fern Hotel in Mumbai, will comprise a one-day strategic conference program, together with a half-day workshop.
The dedicated workshop will be focused on skincare science will take place on March 21st and will focus on advancements in technology in this area. It will be given by Manjeet Aggrawalfrom Shriram Institute for Industrial Research.
Conference program includes five segments
The conference program will kick off with a keynote speech, which will be followed by the Regulatory conference segment, which will be presented by A Sivakumar, the regulatory affairs director South Asia, for Hindustan Unilever, who has worked in the area of research and development for over 22 years.
His presentation will focus on clarifying the latest guidelines from Indian regulators, and will touch on topics such as ensuring latest regulations also comply with US FDA and EU regulations, understanding safety standards, and simplifying import guidelines for cosmetic products and ingredients.
The conference program will feature four other principle segments during the rest of the day, which will include the topics: Consumer Behavior, Science and R&D, Market Opportunities and Clinical Trials.
Panel discussion on market opportunities
The segment on market opportunities will also include a panel discussion with senior representatives from PriceWaterHouseCoopers, IWIN cosmetic and the editor-in-chief of Fourthwave Media Group.
The conference program will be rounded up by two case studies, one on market expansion and consumer insight, the other on R&D and science, while the conference will be finished by a summary by the event chairperson.
