The range has been launched on a global scale to cater to the ever increasing phenomena that is BB, CC and DD creams, mainly consisting of a collection of ‘beauty balms’ which claim to offer extended coverage and tone choice from the average colour cosmetic.
According to Crimson, while traditional BB creams are typically offered in only a few shades there was a lack of broad ranges that catered to the complexions of all women including those with yellow undertones and deeper skin.
"My goal is to bridge that gap," says the makeup artist. "Women in the global community come in more than a couple shades and are left with limited options. By customizing the right shades and increasing the coverage, we made BB better."
'Benefits are far superior to any other BB creams on the market'
BB creams (beauty balms) are usually a lightweight form of foundation that’s heavier than a tinted moisturizer while DD creams (Dynamic Do-all) are a fairly new form of beauty technology that’s lightweight with buildable coverage.
With this venture, Crimson says the range, incorportating the properties from these creams, offers more coverage than most beauty balms but stills feel light, airy and breathable on the skin.
The 11 shades promise to moisturize, protect, correct and cover while the formula features Vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant and plays an important role in repairing sun damage and anti-aging silk peptides to hydrate and nourish the skin, cover blemishes, age spots and discoloration of the face.
"It was really exciting formulating the BB creams with AJ," adds Ofra Gaito, President of OFRA Cosmetics. "We feel the quality and benefits are far superior to any other BB creams on the market right now."
BB, CC, DD creams becoming a global phenomenon
Although the origins of BB creams can be traced back to Germany in the 1950s, when it was developed to soothe skin that was recovering from surgery, contemporary Asia is the source of the current trend, expanding beyond South Korea, into neighbouring Taiwan, Japan and China, before hitting other ASEAN Countries.
But now that trend has expanded worldwide, and having been picked up in the west it has become an essential color cosmetic item for women all over North America and Europe.
According to Mintel senior analyst Vivienne Rudd; "Around 18 months ago we saw the first BB creams launched in the West and the growth of the category has been phenomenal. Indeed, the extent of that growth in the West is underlined by the fact that the number of new BB cream launches in the West now almost matches the number of launches in the East."
