Beyond Beauty ASEAN-Bangkok highlights features of new event

The organisers of Beyond Beauty ASEAN-Bangkok say that a press conference and forum held in Bangkok earlier this month attracted a lot of attention and exhibitor bookings.

The 1st Press Conference and Beauty Forum was held in the Marriot Sukhumvit on March 14th, attracted more than 130 attendees, which included government officials, business journalists and industry professionals.

Serving as a prelude to the first ever Beyond Beauty ASEAN event, which will be held 18 – 20 September, 2014, joint organisers Impact Exhibition Management and Informa Exhibitions say that they took bookings at the event that were the equivalent to 495 square metres of booth space.

The press conference also platformed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the organizers and the Health and Beauty Cluster, Federation of Thai Industries, with an additional endorsement by the Department of International Trade Promotion, all of which aims to promote the event.

Industry endorsements raise profile

The event also highlighted another industry endorsement, which to date includes Thai Cosmetics Manufacturers Association, Thai Spa Association, Herbal Products Association, Health Food and Supplements Association, National Hairdresser Association, Beauty Culture Association Of Thailand & Thai Herbal Industry Association and the ASEAN Cosmetics Association.

The show will be the second major Thai industry event to be launched in recent years, following in the steps of in-cosmetics Asia, although which has more of a focus on ingredients, while the Beyond Beauty is marketed as more of a one-stop event for all areas of the industry.

Holding the event in Thailand also taps into a number of strategic advantages, namely that geographically this forms the heart of the fast growing Southeast Asian region, which includes Indonesia and the Philippines, two of the fastest growing economies in the world right now.

Promoting great cosmetics trade in the ASEAN markets

Thailand is also an important player in the global cosmetics industry, currently ranking the 17th biggest producer in the world, and with annual industry growth reported to have been in the range of 10% to 20% during the course of the last ten years.

“BBAB 2014 objective is to establish a single ASEAN market and encourage intra-ASEAN trade from a single platform for industry professionals to expand into this growing beauty market of increasingly higher middle income population,” said Ms Rosalind Ng, managing director (Asia), Informa Exhibitions.

“The ASEAN Beauty market turnover has tripled in the past 5 years and is targeting some US$14 Billion in the next year, therefore it’s a perfect opportunity for international companies to increase their market share through one main ASEAN platform that provides invaluable networking opportunities through the event as well as benefiting from the planned special buyer-seller meetings.”
