This year the event will take place during the three days, October 20 – 22, and like last year’s event, it will also be held at the Tokyo Big Sight venue, another big change as last year’s event was held in June.
Reed Exhibitions, the organiser of the event, say that significant changes and growth of the show in recent years means that the new dates fit better around other key events for the industry and the Japanese holiday seasons, while the new pavilion reflects a greater international scope.
Targeting ingredients company with no reach in Japan
The introduction of the pavilion is specifically aimed at companies who do not have either an office or other representation in Japan, allowing them to make easy contact with a wide range of professionals from Japanese companies attending the show.
In particular, the hope is to attract smaller- to medium-sized international companies to the show, who otherwise would find making the initial steps of entry onto the market difficult.
Japan is currently enjoying an economic revival which is said to be reflected in higher growth in the cosmetics and personal care market in the country, In particular, the skin care market, which is said to be the largest in the world, is enjoying continued expansion.
Number of exhibitors set to almost double in 2014
Last year the event attracted around 380 exhibitors on the show floor, but significant expansion combined with the timing for the new dates means that this year the organiser is expecting to host around 700 exhibitors on the show floor.
Likewise, the fact that competitor exhibition Cite Japan will not be held because it is a bi-annual event and will not be staged again until May 2015, is also likely to help attract more interest in the event.
The event is also looking to build on visitor numbers that were in excess of 20,000 in 2013, mainly from Japan and other Asian countries. This year a particular aim will be to increase international visitors, both from Asia Pacific and other regions.
Cosme Tech is already one of the biggest shows in the world
Last year was only the fourth year that the Cosme Tech event has been held, and the second since it was combined with Cosme Tokyo.
“We would also like to see more visitors and exhibitors coming in from the rest of the Asia Pacific region and worldwide next year, to make this in to a truly international cosmetic industry event,” said Suzuki.
