Printing South China 2017 will host Post-press and Packaging Converting Halls, where a range of exhibitors from pre-press system and software, digital printing and proofing system, package printing and post-press finishing equipment and services, among many others will attend.

  • Smart packaging

Packaging manufacturer, Wenzhou Zhongke Packaging Machinery, for example, will present its  full automatic rigid box making machine ZK-660AN of Zhongke to the cosmetics market.

The implementation of the PLC programmable controller, photoelectric tracking system and the use of HMI with touch panel produces an accurate process of paper feeding, gluing, box forming and corners gluing, cardboard positioning and fitting, automatic arm guiding, box feeding, wrapping, trimming and folding, that together help make a variety of cosmetic products.

  • Increased efficiency, reduced waste

Offering sustainable production, Wenzhou Zenbo Printing Machinery will introduce the ZB 1260S-450 fully automatic sheet-feeding paper bag making machine, which can produce a selection of bags in one process from sheet papers, reel reinforce cardboards and twist ropes without waste.

  • 3D designs

As cosmetic packaging for the APAC region becomes more advanced, Guowang Machinery Group – Wenzhou Oulite Machinery will demonstrate its C-106Y automatic die-cutting and foil stamping machine. The tool is used for the die-cutting of paper box, paper carton and label, as well as foil stamping and embossing, and is particularly popular for creating 3D and unique patterns on  cosmetic packaging.

Packaging projections

As the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region dominates the global folding cartons packaging sector, a report entitled “The Future of Folding Cartons to 2020” released by Smithers Pira in 2015, stated that the market will be worth over $100 bn by 2020.

China is considered to be a vital market in global packaging and forecasts show that the nation will increase its market share to 39% by 2020. India too will play a crucial role as it will make up over 6% of this total in 2020.

As trends develop, the industry needs innovative designs, technologies and processes in the cosmetics market to directly target and appeal to consumer attitudes. Investment in additional resources for printing technology will also help the packaging brands advance and generate competitive gain in the marketplace.

Euromonitor International revealed that in China, the beauty and personal care packaging sector is set to see a steady increase of 5% over the next five years.

Currently, rigid plastic makes up the largest amount of packaging material in China; comprising 41% of the marketplace and outgrowing others with its growth numbers.
