A leading provider of printing inks for packaging applications, labels and catalogues officially opened its new facility in Shanghai on 21st October 2016.
Printing ink manufacturer, Siegwerk, expanded its local output to the cosmetics packaging industry in Asia by opening the ‘INKube’, its new Packaging Ink Solution Centre, in Shanghai, China.
To support the company’s growth strategy, Siegwerk, has invested in solutions and efforts in multiple regions throughout the world including traditional markets such as North America and Western Europe as well as emerging leaders Latin America and Asia.
Asia is an important region for the manufacturer's strategic vision. As a result, the company has built up resources and capabilities to outgrow the market and meet consumers' requirements based on proximity, service quality and know-how.
“We see a clear need to devote our resources to serving the markets of tomorrow like Asia in order to ensure sustained success for the company. With the INKube as a focal point for Siegwerk in China, we will be able to further boost our strong reputation and expand our solution, service and support offerings targeted to satisfy individual customer requirements,” said Ralf Hildenbrand, President Asia at Siegwerk.
Siegwerk’s new Packaging Ink Solution Centre in Shanghai will be a five-story building constructed in the Xin Zhuang Industrial Zone, south-west of Shanghai's central business district. The new INKube will feature 220 workstations, plus reception area and the INKsperience Showroom.
Printing goals
In the APAC region, in particular, consumers are seeking an immersive experience that connects virtual contemporary innovations with high quality, reliable and consistent brand messaging.
These themes were tipped to dominate two of the APAC region’s most respected cosmetics packaging events: Tokyo Pack 2016 and the upcoming Printing South China 2017. Unique packaging solutions that incorporate advanced packaging product and systems innovations such as smart packaging, 3D creations and those that feature sustainability are set to lead the cosmetics industry.
“INKsperience is both a visitors’ center where guests can be hosted and a demonstration space with state-of-the-art technology which allows us to create a tailored personal experience for each of our customers”, explained Ralf Hildenbrand.
Beyond investments in Asia, and particularly China, Siegwerk is further investing in the creation of regional Centres of Excellence in manufacturing to implement production technologies and improve global processes.
The company recently completed a comprehensive investment project at one of its European technical centres in France, where it opened a new Blending Centre for the production of water-based inks, and also invested in automation and increased capacity within the manufacturing of water-based and energy curable products at its US-site in North Carolina.
