Review-based win
@cosme, which is owned by the Tokyo-based operator, istyle, is a leading Asian beauty information and review site.
The beauty site revealed its favourite newly-released products in Best Cosmetics Awards 2017. These awards recognise the most popular products to have made it onto customers' beauty buy lists in the first half of 2017.
With a loyal following of largely female Japanese consumers, @cosme users post comments on beauty tips, daily routines and new products and looks based on relevant trends. In the run-up to the announcement, @cosme analysed a wide variety of cosmetics and skin care items that have hit Asian shelves and e-commerce sites in the last six months, to pick out the very best.
The awards cover products released during the six-month period from 1st November 2016 to 30th April 2017. Its winners are based on the number and nature of reviews made by members of the @cosme platform.
Number 1
Opera’s Lip Tint (5.4 out of 7 stars) and Sheer Lip Colour (5.3 out of 7 stars) range was announced as @cosme’s 2017 mid-year winner, after receiving the most positive responses online. The Immu-owned brand officially launched the lip tint, which comes in a range of three colours, on 1st November 2016, following a successful pre-sale try-out phase from 14th October 2016.
Harnessing the importance of the natural and active beauty trends in Japan and Asia, the lip tint is marketed as a lip cordial as it aims to balance its rouge, tint and oil properties to require only a single application that leaves a semi-matte, natural finish.
Convenience a must
There were also a number of additional winners under the category of skin care and cleansing, emphasising the importance of convenience, efficiency and effectiveness as part of Asian consumers' daily beauty routines.
KissMe Heroine Speedy Mascara Remover, Shu Uemura’s Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil and CReeR Cleansing Water received 5.6, 5.5 and 4.8 out of 7 stars, respectively.
