in-cosmetics Asia 2017 preview: It’s all about naturals, face masks and colour cosmetics

As in-cosmetics Korea closed its doors last week, organisers Reed Exhibitions are gearing up for its in-cosmetics Asia show.

The upcoming in-cosmetics Asia event, which will take place from 31st October - 2nd November 2017 at the BITEC in Bangkok, Thailand, will focus on three key trends that are tipped for significant growth in the beauty and personal care market.

As part of its ‘Spotlight on’ feature, the event will reveal the latest developments, trends and expectations for the natural extracts, facial masks and colour cosmetics sectors over the coming year.

With the demand for natural extracts, facial masks and colour cosmetics in Asia Pacific “positively booming”, Sarah Gibson, Exhibition Director at in-cosmetics Asia stated that “these three areas provide exciting product development opportunities to manufacturers and we will provide invaluable ingredients and informative insights to inspire future product design”.

“Google recently revealed ‘masking’ is the most searched-for skin care term globally and naturals and colour cosmetics continue to remain strong, dynamic growth markets,” added Gibson.

  • Naturals

By 2022, APAC is estimated to register the highest annual growth of 11.1%. The natural and organic personal care and cosmetics market, in particular, is an environmentally-focused trend to watch, with projections estimating it will hit $19.8bn (€17.4bn) by 2022, amounting to an annual growth rate of 10.2% from 2016 to 2022.

Suppliers including DOC Japan and CLR will discuss their experiences in sourcing innovative new ingredients that range from 100% naturally-sourced plant and marine extracts for the personal care industry.

  • Face Masks

Budget-friendly facial masks that provide multiple benefits including hydration, efficacy and convenience are positioning themselves as an integral element of the beauty regime, with South Korea’s popularity now sweeping across the world.

Active and functional ingredients and materials for facial and eye masks will be on show, along with a presentation on future avenues by senior beauty and personal care innovation and insights analyst at Mintel.

  • Colour cosmetics

Market research leaders, Euromonitor International, unveils that Asia-Pacific (APAC) is expected to overtake the US as the main colour cosmetics region by 2020. India’s colour cosmetics market, in particular, is expected to grow by over 20% by 2020.

The workplace is a key area that brands and marketers are driving their marketing messages towards, with lipsticks, lip gloss, nail polish, eye liners and mascara launches on the up.

Developers have launched their profiles with cutting-edge pigments and applications recently, as R&D initiatives are utilising new technologies to leverage current make up and lip colour trends.
