Cosmax Bio signs MOU with Jeonnam Bioindustry

Developing the “science of Korean beauty”, Cosmax Bio teams up in a mutual cooperation with Jeonnam Bioindustry to use natural materials for the production of industry goods.

Cosmax Bio which explores skin care, make up, hair care, functional cosmetics, fragrance and sheet masks, will work with Jeonnam Bioindustry to develop health functional foods and medicines using natural products.

The agreement

Cosmax Bio, led by CEO Kim Ji-hyeong, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jeonnam Biotechnology Promotion Centre for joint drug development.

Through this recent collaboration and the use of domestic native plants, the duo will focus on commercialisation in the global market.

As part of the MOU, the two institutions hope to boost regional development and find ways to globalise domestic native plants through joint research and development. Health functional foods and pharmaceuticals will be the centre of this R&D, along with the industrialisation of using natural materials.

Natural research

The Natural Resources Research Centre is a research institute that was set up with the support of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Jeollanamdo Province, and Jangheung County to create economic and industrial added value.

Based on special resource research and development, the centre also accesses knowledge-based networking and customised enterprise support to build and industrialise functional new materials to strengthen local companies. This will also serve as a base for fostering the Jeollanam-do biotechnology industry.

"The Natural Resources Research Centre is a leading research institute that provides various achievements through systematic research on natural materials,” explained Kim Ji-hyeong, President of Cosmax Bio.

“It is leading the development of new technologies for natural products, agriculture and bio fusion. We will develop new products and accelerate global commercialisation," Ji-hyeong went on to say.

Seong-Rok Sun at the Centre for Natural Resources Research Centre, commented: "By integrating the scientific research results of the Natural Resources Research Centre with the product development and industrialisation know-how of Cosmax Bio, we will realise the global commercialisation of domestic natural products and contribute to the mutual growth of domestic and foreign bio industries.”

Nano-emulsion patent

Earlier this year, in May 2017, the global company specialising in cosmetics, health functional foods and original design manufacturing (ODM) acquired a patent for manufacturing nano-emulsion technology.

This technology was developed through a unique structure of the stratum corneum that protects the skin. Nano-emulsion formulations containing ceramides and cholesterol help improve skin barrier functioning, the company went on to say.
