Ashland launches Serenityl biofunctional for health and wellness
At in-cosmetics Asia 2017, Ashland presented its newly-released Serenityl biofunctional ingredient for the health and wellness sector. In addition, the chemical leader also showcased its award-winning FiberHance bm solution, developed to strengthen hair.
Environmental damage
Ashland launched Serenityl biofunctional to help protect the skin from airborne toxins. The company chose to introduce it to the Asian cosmetics market first, as “in Asia, the health and wellness trend covers a broad range of aspects from healthy lifestyles to personal care” the company revealed in a recent press release.
“Consumers today struggle to find ways to get everything done and they also want to have time for the things that matter the most to them, including health and wellness,” highlighted Nelson Corda, General Manager, Consumer Specialties, Asia Pacific excluding China, Ashland.
“This trend advances the development of products for anti-pollution cosmetics. Serenityl enables manufacturers to address consumers' desire to protect their skin against exposure to environmental stress factors such as pollution,” Corda explained.
Three protective elements
The Serenityl biofunctional solution works by helping to increase skin detoxination, oxygenation, and wellness. Consumers of today are increasingly demanding a skin care item that specifically seeks to strengthen skin detoxination — the capacity of the skin to sense environmental toxins and eliminate internal toxins.
This interest comes at a time when recent scientific studies have shown that taste receptors in the skin sense environmental toxins, and prompt the skin’s barrier function and immune defences. It is this process that then prevents toxins from hitting living cells.
Serenityl has been designed for numerous applications, including beauty oils, day and night care products, facial care formulations for professional beauty salons and spas, male facial care products, and natural cosmetics.
Commenting on its latest launch, Vito Consiglio, Vice President, personal and home care, Ashland, stated: “Ashland’s solvers understand that products must seamlessly fit into people’s busy and complex lives. In response, we have introduced Serenityl biofunctional, to help the skin achieve an alluring, healthier look and feel.”
Award-winning hair strengthening
Ashland’s FiberHance bm solution was awarded a gold innovation award at in-cosmetics global 2017. The solution contains new patent-pending chemistry, as well as a selection of ingredients for hair strengthening to support the damaged internal keratin structure.
“We are also featuring FiberHance bm solution, a patent-pending chemistry to strengthen and repair damaged hair. These products offer formulators a solution that is effective and also boost manufacturers’ competitiveness in designing products with a focus on health and wellness,” added Consiglio.
