Tekni-Plex marks its 50th anniversary this year. Along with celebrating its five-decade milestone, the company announced that it had appointed Michael Luo to head up its China division.
Latest investment
Tekni-Plex’s latest announcement comes as it invested $15 mn (€12.7 mn) in its new cutting-edge production unit in Suzhou, China. The enterprise has now also successfully completed all start-up processes for the production facility to run, which is located close to Shanghai.
As the US-based company moves ahead with ramping up its presence in Asia, the company known for producing solutions for the personal care industry, will manufacturer Natvar's recently-announced silicone extrusion tubing at its new China plant.
Key contribution
"Michael has been the key architect of our China growth strategy which has resulted in significant increases in business for our Colorite compounds and investments in technology to grow our Natvar medical tubing business," said Paul Young, Chief Executive Officer, Tekni-Plex.
Luo first joined the company in 2014 as its director of sales and marketing. In his newly-appointed position, Luo will continue to report to Russell Hubbard, Senior Vice President of Chlitina International.
"The new appointment will enable Russ to increase his efforts on M&A activity in Asia and develop an integrated global strategy for products that support the region's growing pharmaceutical and medical device businesses," Young added.
Tekni-Plex operates heavily in the personal care industry to produce specialty tubing, compounds, packaging films, closure liners and sealing gaskets, along with specialised dispensing components.
