IFF breaks ground with largest Indian flavour and fragrance plant
Fuelled by a sense of discovery, constantly asking “what if?”, IFF specialises in the production of taste, smell, or feel in fine fragrances and beauty, detergents and household goods.
By exploring leading consumer insights, research and development, creative expertise, and customer intimacy, IFF plans to build its success through the development of its India-based facility.
Biggest-ever in flavour and fragrances
The organisation expects the new Indian facility and the company's latest investment to be commercialised in December 2019.
Comprising part of a larger contribution into the Greater Asia region, the production unit will be the biggest flavour and fragrance manufacturing facility in India and the largest IFF site in Greater Asia, occupying a 32-acre/130,000m2 plot.
When complete, the manufacturing hub will deliver to IFF flavours and fragrances customers all over India and the Asia region.
“In this economically vibrant country, it is critical that we invest to provide our customers with winning tastes and scents,” expressed Andreas Fibig, IFF Chairman and CEO.
“This new facility is fitted with capabilities tailored for our customers’ needs. Coupled with our excellent consumer insights teams and their deep understanding of the local markets, we are well-positioned to live up to our promise to be our customers’ partner of choice.”
India: A priority market
Commenting on the strategic importance of India as a core geographical market, MG Prakash, Managing Director, IFF India, said: "India is a priority market for IFF. We are excited about our investment at Sri City and the world-class manufacturing facility designed to meet our customers’ current and future needs."
Situated in Sri City, the new plant will have well-thought-out logistics options, access to skilled labour, and solid infrastructure and utilities.
Sustainability push
As IFF is strongly committed to driving sustainability across the entire organisation, the plant site has been designed to use and reuse water efficiently, along with utilising rainwater harvesting capabilities.
The facility will also boast energy efficient building materials and equipment, the maximisation of natural daylight, and low-consumption LED lighting.
“IFF has been a leader in India for more than 85 years, serving a wide customer base from global consumer companies to small and medium enterprises,” added Prakash.
Sharing IFF’s success to date and how this impacts India’s consumer base, Prakash continued: “IFF India has a rich talent pool that provides cutting-edge solutions to our customers for their flavour and fragrance needs. We are proud to be a part of the growth of the Indian economy and to the communities where we operate.”
