Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) releases 16 personal care formulations

Launched to encourage innovation amongst ASEAN companies, Jebsen & Jessen has also opened its innovation centre in Bangkok, Thailand.

Accompanying the launch of 16 personal care formulations, chemical and life science ingredients promoter, Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients Consumer Industries, establishes its innovation centre in a bid to further personal care innovation in Southeast Asia.

Innovation and growth

Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) made the announcement on 12th February 2018, at a time when it aims to leverage the growing market in Southeast Asia and wider Asia.

“At USD 5bn a year, Asia is the world’s leading beauty market, accounting for 51% of global sales,” the manufacturing company revealed in a recent press release.

As Southeast Asia is now witnessing increased uptake of beauty and hygiene products, due to its rapidly-growing populations and disposable incomes, the company emphasises how “producers big and small are looking to capitalise on this megatrend”.

Through your own eyes

With a targeted presence in nine countries, including ASEAN’s emerging markets Myanmar and Cambodia, Jebsen & Jessen selected Bangkok as the centre of its innovation presence. Through its new centre, it will showcase the entire production process from utilising ingredients to creating the finished item.

The centre’s visitors can team up with specialists on-site who are on-hand to present modified formulations “to adapt the recipes for their needs”, via up to date trends and technological products.

As Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) prepares to invite cosmetic companies in ASEAN, it plans to share insights on product functionality and provide an interactive experience: “Our 600 m2 regional Consumer Industries Innovation is conveniently located in Bangkok, Thailand. It provides regional customers and suppliers with value-added services like research and application development.”

Southeast Asia region

With cosmetics heavyweights, Korea, China and Japan often taking the spotlight when it comes to releasing cutting-edge formulations and creative packaging, Jebsen & Jessen has prioritised increasing the opportunities available for Southeast Asian brands.

As a result, Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients (JJING) has unveiled a series of guideline formulations that provide clear information on how personal care companies can create attractive new items based on current trends and consumer demands.

A team of in-house technical lab experts developed the 16 guideline formulations. Jebsen & Jessen specialises in a wide selection of personal care-related areas including beauty; care and protection; facial, hair and body cleansing; hair styling and fixing; and hair conditioning.

Setting itself apart

These formulations aim to demonstrate the variety of applications that daily personal care products provide, including mouthwash, toothpaste for hypersensitivity, sunscreen, roll-on deodorant and facial cleansers, the company announced in a recent press release.

Anti-wrinkle serum, ReGENESEA LS, is one of the company’s key formulations which works to limit the appearance of wrinkles while heightening skin hydration and creating a barrier function.

SunCat (Encapsulated organic sunscreens dispersion) provides protection from the sun through its organic sunscreen and supports the growing natural trend. Its uses common organic sunscreens such as Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate to offer UVA & B protection via “stable and easy to use dispersion”.

"The formulation prototypes that were developed in our labs are a key differentiating factor... Using speciality ingredients from leading brands such as Innovacos and BioNest, we help our customers to innovate, and adapt faster to the dynamic and growing ASEAN markets,” stated Marc Deschamps, Regional Managing Director, Jebsen & Jessen Ingredients.
