Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists celebrates its 50th Annual Conference

The Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists (ASCC) supports networking between Australian chemists and cosmetic brands – this year they celebrate their 50th Annual Conference with the latest innovations and high profile speakers leading the line-up.

This conference represents a real mile-stone for Australian chemists and brands – it’s the most significant gathering of Cosmetic Chemists, Raw Material Suppliers, Contract Manufacturers, Consultants and Brand Owners that Australia has, annually. It enables all levels of industry to see the latest in raw material launches and technical sessions on Australian shores.

An impressive line-up from start to finish

Opening with innovative Keynote speaker Paul Frasca, Founder & Managing Director of award winning Sustainable Salons Australia the first comprehensive resource recovery service designed for the salon environment that rewards salons and gives back to the community. His revolutionary approach to reducing salon waste and recycling used materials adds to the sustainability message so prevalent to consumers and sets an industry standard to be followed.

The program also features IFSCC Guest Speaker, and United States Society of Cosmetic Chemists President, Perry Romanowski, presenting on Cosmetic Chemistry in the Internet Age, A Scientists Guide to Effective Use of the Internet.

The conference is being organised by Members from within the ASCC, with myself, Belinda Carli, as Chairperson. I will also be presenting on Customisation at the conference and showing brands how they can create their own customised offerings: from creating stable bases through to active concentrates and every step in between.

Other topics that will be highlighted include stem cell technology; functional bioactive delivery systems for cosmeceuticals; the science and balance of the skin microbiome; novel solutions to creating formulation solutions for both personal care and colour cosmetics and the latest approaches in anti-ageing cosmeceuticals.

The technical programme contains Australian and International presenters – experts in their field – to give an extremely high calibre of up-to-date industry advances and formulation solutions.

Much more than just technical seminars…

The conference spans 3 days but is much more than just technical sessions. It also contains marketing concepts, formulation demonstrations, latest launches and innovation displays, a perfume pantry and loads of networking opportunities.

In fact, the social program is where some of the most significant networking gets done! The social program is designed to welcome attendees from their various backgrounds, mix and mingle in a relaxed atmosphere with their passion of the cosmetic industry their common ground. Starting with a welcome evening of art and culture, a follow-on evening of industry related trivia, to the final night’s Masquerade Closing Gala, the social program adds to the fantastic technical program. It provides the industry’s best way to connect with like-minded colleagues, and find the person with the right solution to your formulation, manufacturing or branding issue.

What’s new and different?

Because of it’s importance, this years’ conference, marking the 50th Annual Celebration, is to be held in Australia’s Iconic capital city, Canberra. The theme is focusing on ‘Golden Touch of Beauty’ – what has made Brands and products be successful and where attendees can find their next brand success. Some new additions include:

  • Innovation displays – see the latest launches from around the world brought together in one area
  • Perfume pantry – an interactive aroma based area featuring the latest scents to inspire
  • Formulation displays – lab demonstrations to solve formulation issues
  • Panel discussion – where a hot topic of the industry will be debated from various industry expert perspectives!

Running from May 16th – 18th this year, if you’re in Australia or wanting an excuse to visit, this is a cosmetics event not to be missed!
