Azelis extends Evonik distribution to APAC countries

The partnership between leading chemicals distributor and supplier, Azelis and chemical specialist, Evonik, will see Azelis exclusively provide personal care ingredients to the Asia-Pacific (APAC) marketplace.

Evonik appoints Azelis as its exclusive distributor in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. This decision comes as an extension of its previous distribution agreement.

APAC entry

Effective immediately, Azelis will not distribute its ingredients outside of the European market into the leading and emerging Indian, Nepalese and Bangladesh regions.

German-based Evonik's ingredient collections consist of a wide selection of actives, emulsifiers, emollients and functional ingredients for skin care, hair care and colour cosmetics.

“We are delighted with the addition of the Evonik product line and are convinced this range will really enhance our current portfolio,” Aparna Khurana, Managing Director India, Azelis.

Commenting on the position of Azelis in the industry, Khurana said: “We are excited to now be able to offer Evonik’s full range of high-performance and quality ingredients to the Indian market. Evonik is a highly reputable manufacturing company and we are confident we will further grow business together and deliver many innovative solutions for our customers.”

Personal care ingredients

“Personal Care in India is a significant growth opportunity for Azelis and this partnership will reinforce Azelis' overall position in Asia Pacific as a leading distributor of speciality chemicals,” Laurent Nataf, CEO & President Asia Pacific noted.

Reflecting on the success of the new collaboration, Nataf said: “We both have a high focus on innovation and Evonik’s cutting-edge ingredients represent a perfect fit for both our portfolio and our strategy to focus on creating value for our customers in Asia Pacific.”

Azelis recognition

To date, Azelis has marked 2018 as a key point in its strategic efforts having opened its personal care application laboratory in India to offer local market support in the country.

It also won the 2018 Cosmetics Fountain Innovation Award at PCHi exhibition (China) for the fourth consecutive year. These followed its wins in 2017, including the Product Innovation Award at Ringier Technology Innovation Awards (China). These awards are evidence of how Azelis expertise leads the way in the personal care market.

The move into India, Nepal and Bangladesh comes after Azelis centred on its entry into Australia and New Zealand. In July 2017, the company acquired manufacture and formulations supplier, Chemcolor.

In an exclusive interview with Cosmetics Design Asia, Azelis revealed how the Oceanic nations are “springboards” for its entry into the Asian market. Of which, Azelis is now setting its sights on by teaming up with Evonik.
