On 14th June 2018, istyle, a Tokyo-based operator of @cosme, announced the celebrated cosmetics winners of its 2018 mid-year big reveal.
Grand prize winner
Hailed as one of Asia's largest beauty information and review sites, @cosme applauded Dejavu's Lasting-Fine cream pencil eyeliner, which took home the grand prize.
Supported by the site’s consumers and loyal user base of female Japanese beauty buyers, fans of the eyeliner stated that it enables them "to freely apply ultra-thin to thick lines", is "less likely to smudge or fade" and "glides on smoothly”.
Manufactured by Japan's Imju, Dejavu's cream pencil eyeliner received favourable consumer reviews, which namely highlighted its functionality and texture.
What consumers are seeking
@cosme noted that today’s cosmetics industry demonstrates the progression that has been made in recent years to improve functionality and “raise the bar for differentiating products”, it stated in a recent press release.
Sensual cosmetics are growing in popularity, as consumers demand scent, texture and packaging innovations. Any factor that impacts the senses appears to be having a positive effect on consumers and product choice.
Mid-year ranking
The information and reviews posted on @cosme are designed to provide tips on daily beauty that support beauty preferences and decision-making.
@cosme’s 2018 awards celebrate beauty brands and items that were launched onto the marketplace between 1st November 2017 and 30th April 2018.
It was established to recognise goods that have gained widespread support from cosmetics consumers and beauty professionals. Their popularity is calculated by the number of, and positivity, of reviews written by @cosme members.

While J-beauty reigns supreme in 2018, along with Opera’s win last year, Taiwanese cosmetics also saw a boost in popularity as the '2017 UrCosme (@cosme TAIWAN) The Best Cosmetics Awards' revealed the latest trends to hit the rising beauty market.
