An international leader in specialty lipids and surfactants development and manufacturing, ABITEC, has selected leading ingredients and specialty chemicals distributor, DKSH Business Unit Performance Materials, to distribute its range of lipid excipient and nutritional supplement.
Teaming up
Entering into this formal agreement to distribute its cosmetics, pharmaceutical and nutritional items, DKSH will market and deliver ABITEC speciality ingredients in the Southeast Asian hub. This partnership will see these products distributed exclusively in Thailand and Spain and Portugal, and non-exclusively in Italy and Greece.
DKSH Business Unit Performance Materials concentrates on sourcing, developing, marketing and distributing specialty chemicals and ingredients in personal care and the pharmaceutical sectors.
Distribution portfolio
ABITEC’s lipid-based excipients promote the enhancement of the bioavailability of poorly water-soluble and poorly permeable Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). These excipients can then be applied to boost lubrication, solubilisation and emulsification, along with the formulation of a Self-Emulsifying Drug Delivery System (SEDDS).
The company has a rich portfolio of trademarked specialty lipids which include Capmul, Captex, Caprol, Acconon, Sterotex, Nutri Sperse, Hydro-Kote and Pureco.
Focusing on creating lotions, creams, foams and ointments for cosmetics items, the product collection is developed in ISO- certified facilities that conform to Current Good Manufacturing Practices ( cGMP) and IPEC information and guidance.
Formulation development
Focusing on its “logistics infrastructure and proven experience”, the duo hopes to provide services to grow its business activities throughout the entire value chain.
“We are delighted to partner with ABITEC in multiple countries across Europe and in Asia. Their innovative lipid solutions strengthen our existing portfolio and will provide exciting new opportunities in the field of formulation development for our loyal customer base in some of our key pharmaceutical markets,” emphasised Tanja Schaffer, Vice President, Pharmaceutical Industry, DKSH.
"DKSH has extensive knowledge about and insight into these chosen markets and possesses a top-notch logistic infrastructure that will allow ABITEC a strategic advantage in delivering ingredient solutions globally,” noted Damon Dalrymple, Managing Director Europe and Asia, ABITEC.
“Together, ABITEC and DKSH will have the opportunity to expand their presence in emerging markets and serve their customers with high-quality products and technical expertise.”
