Active raw material company, Labio, releases its latest hair care product, fermentoil.

After five months of clinical tests to prove its efficacy, on 24th August 2018, the Korean personal care named revealed it has released its hair complex to the cosmetics industry.

Fermentation technique

Hailed as a "new generation oil to improve your cosmetics", Fermentoil aims to provide moisturisation, whitening and anti-ageing properties.

Prior to launching this new solution, Labio explored micro-organisms, seed cultivation, fermentation and distillation to develop Fermentoil. Enhancing free fatty acid, Fermentoil is formulated from 100% natural oil and has the potential to emulsify and create a non-greasy texture.

Focusing on anti-hair loss, natural emulsifiers and eco-preservatives, Labio applies its fermentation-led technology to produce a wide range of solutions for the modern cosmetics consumer. Fermentation-based products are synonymous with skin care products as they are considered to offer more benefits than non-fermentation-led items.

Korean industry

An industry mainstay in Korea, skin care products that have been formulated using fermentation are highly applicable and attractive to the Korean beauty sector through these techniques.

Korea, for example, has seen a hive of interest in fermentation as it strives to deliver innovative and newly-developed materials to consumers through microorganisms.

Labio’s Fermentoil contains various oil sources including argan, camellia seed, green tea seed, sunflower seed and sweet almond. By combining the popularity and known benefits of hair care sources used in everyday products, Labio states that its fermentation technology also creates additional moisturisation, anti-frizz and texture.

Fermentoil on the market

Comparing its Fermentoil hair care product to other existing items on the market, Labio reveals that its applied “upgraded tech and processing” to boost its offering and competitiveness in the marketplace.

The company strives to provide solubilisation, stabilisation and safety for cosmetics consumers, along with offering eco-friendly items ranging from hair care products through to skin protection, skin whitening, moisturising and anti-ageing/wrinkle items.

Forging an international presence, Labio has teamed up with Italian Activebox to distribute its products in the European country. Activebox focuses on eco-beauty and analyses marketing trends, along with exclusive active and organic ingredients that are cruelty-free.

Emulsifiers and extracts

As there are a limited number of natural emulsifiers, producers use chemicals, YeSeul Lee from Labio shared at this year's in-cosmetics Korea. Fermentation has the natural properties and capabilities to reduce the presence and use of chemical emulsifiers.

Extracts are water soluble and so are easy to use, Lee went on to say. As the formulation can be affected by pH and temperature, ingredients added at the end of the formulation can change its structure to increase its stability.
