Two themes seem to really pervade at this year's event. The first was the huge increase in bio fermented technology and associated ingredients, while the second was the noticeable increase in new product launches from Chinese companies, many of which were from Guangzhou.
One example of biotech fermentation company was JLang Biotech Company, which was platforming a number of ingredients that it produced using its own brand of fermentation technology.
It was launching its Reallagen Collagen at the event, which is an ingredient that is highly consistent with human type III collagen and is said to provide long-lasting efficacy for anti-ageing and repair.
International and Chinese players showcased launches
A look at the launches at the dedicated New Product Launches area, between halls five and six, revealed that this year, the competition from China companies was hotter than ever, making the launch platform look more crowded than in previous year.
Croda was targeting the anti-pollution trend with its Optisol OTP-1 product, while Givaudan was highlighting a number of new products, including its Primahyal Ultrafiller and Colourback Darkenyl, a product aimed at reversing gray hair.

Alps was introducing a range of three gels designed for mask applications - a cold mask, a hot mask and an antioxidant mask. All the masks are enriched with lipophilic antioxidants that help to reduce the effects of free radicals, known to be one of the primary sources of skin ageing.
Cargill was platforming its sustainability theme at the event, while launching its System 1.0 for Skin Care, which utilises three key ingredients - Actigum VSX 20, an innovative texturiser, Emultop Velvet IP lecithin and the high oleic rapeseed oil Bota Valley 75 to produce an all-in-one skin care regime.
Local company Guangzhou Jizhou participated in the new product launch platform with its Ellagic Acid, a product that is said to inhibit histamine and inflammatory skin characteristics, serving to heal skin of rashes and itches, while also containing properties to help it heal.
Givaudan was launching a number of new products at the event, including its Primahyal Ultrafiller, a project designed to enhance and plump the skin and providing a viable alternative to injectable fillers.
Sappi was showcasing its Valida Nanocellulose, which has been developed using a unique processing technology, and has a wide range of uses in cosmetics that include rheology modifier, suspension stabiliser and an active ingredient carrier.
