The expanded distribution will see the products stocked on the shelves of 9,300 Japanese beauty and lash salons.
Additionally, the brand will be available online via a Japanese online e-commerce platform that has access to an estimated 1.4 million beauty consumers in the country.
First stop in Asia expansion
AIVITA’s expansion into Japan follows on a string of successful appearances on home shopping channel QVC Japan.
Christi Douglass, marketing and sales development manager, said that Root of Skin’s launch set consecutive sales records for consistent sell outs in as little as the first 10 minutes of the hour-long shows.
The company believes the skin care range has plenty of potential in the region because of its science-driven background.
“Japanese consumers like science-based skincare such as ours and seem to want the latest and greatest technologies, we will continue to expand into regions and sales channels to meet that demand.”
She added: “QVC Japan gave us the opportunity to explain the science behind our products to Japanese consumers and we’ve seen that they’ve really taken to it.”
Japan is only the first stop in AIVITA’s expansion.
The company believes that Asia holds a lot of potential for Root of Skin because the range is in line with the current beauty trends in the region.
“In Asia, there appears a growing desire for products that improve health and well-being, as well as products that are science-driven. The active technology in AIVITA’s Root of Skin is unique and made possible by the latest advancements in stem cell science,” said Douglass.
She added: “Our products are also very natural, containing a complete set of naturally-occurring ingredients that are present in young skin.”
The news of expansion comes after the company entered into a partnership with California-based Guthy-Renker.
As per the deal, Guthy-Renker is overseeing all domestic and international production and advertising for television, radio and social channels for Root of Skin.
Powered by stem cell science
The Root of Skin skin care line is powered by AIVITA’s latest advancements in stem cell science.
The products contain the company’s patented SourceCode Technology, which contains all the factors needed to allow skin to renew itself “like it does in its youngest and healthiest stage”.
“Root of Skin is inspired by the body’s ability to restore itself. Like your body, your skin needs fuel to renew itself each day. Our Energizing Essentials are clinically proven to revitalise skin on another level,” explained Douglass
Root of Skin was developed by AIVITA Biomedical, a cell therapy company that develops treatments for cancer and vision loss.
The firm uses all proceeds from the sales of Root Of Skin to support the treatment of women with ovarian cancer.
“[AIVITA Biomedical] is a cell therapy company with promising cancer immunotherapy capable of treating most solid tumour cancers. Proceeds from the sale of our [skin care] products support the costs to run our phase two trials and the treatment of women with ovarian cancer,” said Douglass.
The line currently consists of three products: a face serum, eye lotion and a tinted primer.
Douglass revealed that the company plans to expand the range and will be adding a moisturiser to the line up soon.
