Before founding the company, Lee spent five years at Swiss fragrance house Givaudan, which sparked his passion for fragrances.
He then made the difficult decision to leave the company in order forge his own legacy.
"I worried that by the time I reached an age of 50, I would look back and regret not creating something of my own,” he told CosmeticsDesign-Asia.
Today the SIX brand catalogue consists of an interesting range of genderless perfumes, reed diffusers and candles, most of which tell the stories of Lee’s globetrotting adventures.
“I’m no different from a painter, a songwriter or a chef. To be honest, the only difference is the medium of communication that I choose to tell my stories,” said Lee.
However, Lee has also moved the company in a new direction of ambient scenting, helping hotels, retailers and brands create their very own signature ‘scent façade’
“I see myself as a scent architect that helps build an invisible facade for companies. This is something you can’t see or feel but because your sense of smell is really your strongest sensory organ, it forms the deepest impression on your mind,” said Lee.
