Taiwan-based AI/AR firm Perfect Corp is offering cosmetic firms complimentary use of its augmented reality training service, YouCam A.R.T., to help them connect their teams, as working remotely becomes the new normal.

The service would allow companies to conduct company-wide training on a private livestream channel from a mobile device.

Chief strategy officer and senior VP, Louis Chen, said that the company recognised that the shift to working from home was happening on a much bigger scale very rapidly due to the COVID-19 situation.

He said that the company has seen the interest in their digital solutions increase around five to eight times in the past couple of months which drove the company to offer the complimentary service.

Many beauty companies have to take necessary measures to protect their employees and enforce policies to either reduce travel or to encourage working from home. As part of the beauty community, Perfect has offered the complimentary license of AR Training service to help all beauty companies to get through these difficult times, and help their employees stay connected safely and securely.”

CEO Alice Chang added: “We are committed to providing the technology that can help companies adapt to these pressing changes quickly and efficiently. We’re here to help beauty brands remain productive during this precarious time,”

In the wake of the latest COVID-19 developments, Chen stressed that beauty and personal care companies must revaluate their digital strategies.

“The changes are happening at an unimaginable rate, and these changes are here to stay. Shifting to digital is inevitable to begin with; COVID-19 merely accelerates the process. We are already in another paradigm shift, the new norm of getting more digitally connected.”

Live engagement

Unlike conventional video conferencing tools, YouCam AR Training was designed specifically to conduct beauty training as it provides a ‘one-to-many’ scenario.

“To provide beauty brands with the most flexible way to carry out one-to-many training sessions, the service utilises a robust infrastructure to ensure a smooth live-streaming experience for audiences across countries and continents,” Chen explained.

He noted that the strength of the YouCam AR Training is that it can provide real-time communication that is interactive, fun and engaging to over a thousand participants on a regular basis with ease.

It allows trainers can easily share presentation slides, key visuals while participants, such as beauty advisors, can test out products virtually. using the AR-powered virtual try-on experience.

“The YouCam AR Training service aims to provide efficient means of communication between the trainer and a viewer with the live poll feature. It allows the trainer to conduct live polls during the session and gives the participants an easy way to send their feedback or response back to the beauty trainer.

The service also provides a dashboard to easily track such important analytics as attendance reports, viewer action tracking and. viewer engagement insights.
