The brand was founded in 2017 by Ross Macdougald, a cosmetic chemist with over 30 years’ experience developing over 300 products, for industry giants.
Global managing director and dermal specialist Lucy Macdougald told CosmeticsDesign-Asia that the company espoused a pro-ageing approach. “What this means is we aim to celebrate natural beauty and focus on embracing ageing rather than trying to stop it.”
She elaborated: “We are realistic in that we know ageing cannot be stopped, so we encourage our customers to approach skin care and beauty by simply enhancing what they already have and not editing out perceived flaws or wrinkles. For us, beauty is about celebrating the years, being comfortable with who you are and celebrating the signs of your youth.”
However, Biologi’s recognised that ageing was a concern for its consumers and set out to develop a product that could meet their needs while keeping to its brand values.
The Bm Regenerate Anti-Ageing Serum launched late last year to complete the brand’s core skin care range.
“We’ve just launched our targeted anti-ageing solution – Bm Regenerate Anti-Ageing Serum. As the fifth product in Biologi’s range of radical cellular skin care, Bm Regenerate challenges everything you thought you knew about anti-ageing skin care,” said Macdougald.
‘Untouched’ power
The product contains the native Australian ingredient, Tasmanian Mountain Pepper Berry, an ingredient the brand said has remain relatively ‘untouched’ by the beauty industry.
“The development of Biologi’s Bm Regenerate Anti-Ageing Serum was driven by the fact that we found Tasmanian Mountain Pepper Berry to have incredible effects on the skin. It delivers high antioxidant capacity and boasts an array of skin benefits such as enhancing collagen production, repairing barrier function of the skin and increasing hydration to gently defy the visible signs of ageing,” said Macdougald.
Mountain Pepper Berry contains the phytoactives which are all supported by external research, such as anthocyanin, which helps to increase collagen production to slow the visible signs of ageing, hydrate the skin, reduce sunspots and restore damaged skin.
Simple yet potent
The brand’s latest product also taps into the rising consumer demand for effective anti-ageing products that are powered by natural ingredients.
“The demand is already there and will only continue to increase I believe consumers are beginning to cut through marketing hype and seek out high-performing products that actually work. Gone are the days of consumers buying ‘hope in a jar’ products, they’re doing their research, looking at real customer reviews and before and after results and making their decisions based on the facts.”
She added that all the firm’s extracts, including Tasmanian Mountain Pepper Berry, are independently tested in Australia for their full scope of water soluble phytoactives and micronutrients.
Consumers are also looking for simple and uncomplicated skin care products.
“Today’s consumers are looking for simplicity. We all know the feeling of having countless products in our bathroom cabinet and questioning whether any of them work. Biologi was created to change that while also being the solution to another common gripe – complicated skin care routines,” said Macdougald.
Unlike most brands, Biologi produces single-ingredient products, making it easier for consumers to understand the product.
The company also claims that this makes their products more effect as it is made up of 100% active ingredients with 100% potency.
“An active phytonutrient is a biological ingredient in the plant source that directly affects the function of the skin. All serums in the Biologi range are undiluted and contain active phytonutrients at 100% potency,” explained Macdougald.
This is down to the firm’s proprietary extraction technology that keeps the plant nutrients stable. The process is known as the Closed Liquid Extraction System (CLECS) and it allows the company to get 100% water soluble active phyto-nutrients, as well as the plant liquid matrix.
