Viral potential: K-beauty brand behind viral multi balm to introduce new sun stick
Kahi is the brand behind Kahi Wrinkle Bounce Multi Balm, the product that gained popularity with multiple celebrity endorsements and K-drama appearances. It was also featured in a music video by American artiste Doja Cat, propelling its desirability in the west.
Since then, the brand has release multiple versions that target specific concerns such as pigmentation, dry skin, and dark circles.
Now the company is set to launch the Airy Fit Sun Stick SPF50+ PA++++, a broad-spectrum sun protector.
According to Marcus Ang, general manager of Alphico Marketing, which represents Kahi in Singapore, the product was just launched in South Korea and has already been sold out.
Ang expressed the firm’s excitement to launch this product, which it believes will be a best-seller.
The brand was showcasing its products at Guardian Beauty Around The World event in Singapore on September 4, where it got to introduce the product to media an influencers.
“So far, the response has been fantastic. Everyone is really excited about the product. Based on all the feedback we’ve gotten from the influencers at the event, it seems like they love it because there’s nothing like it out there. This is going to be the next big thing for the brand,” said Ang.
Are those AirPods?
The product garnered a lot of attention firstly due to its form factor. Unlike other sun sticks, it is housed in a small white casing that closely resembles Apple’s AirPods.
It is so small it fits into the palm of your hand and can easily be stashed in a small purse to use on the go.
“The first thing everyone sees is the packaging. It’s so cute and looks like AirPods. It’s small so you can carry it every where and use conveniently,” said Ang.
Ang assured that Airy Fit Sun Stick is not just a pretty face and is backed up by the firm’s latest research and development.
“There are two new technologies in this formula. There is the 2X Wet Booster which means that with water exposure, it won’t come off easily and actually increases the protection. What happens is that the product forms a second protective layer when it gets into contact with water,” he explained.
The formula is also backed by polymeric high temperature technology, which further increases the protection as the temperature rises, Ang added.
In addition, the product contains watercress extract to cool and soothe the skin while hydrating it.
It also contains dokdo pursaine extract, which the brand claims has anti-ageing, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties.
The brand claims the formula is invisible and does not leave a white cast on the skin.
“What’s also great about it is the non-sticky finish. If you go to the beach, sand won’t catch on the skin. It also mattifies the skin and can be used over makeup,” said Ang.
In addition to the sun stick, the brand is also launching a tinted and moisturising sunscreens.
